Children & Young People
Working in partnership with local infant, junior, primary and secondary schools, our Children’s Worker and Youth Workers provide one-to-one mentoring within school for children and young people identified as needing additional support. The children can be facing a range of challenges including family breakdown, illness, anxiety and mental health issues. These children are normally referred to YFM by the schools.
We currently provide one-to-one mentoring in the following schools:
Calmore Infants, Calmore Juniors, Eling Infants, Foxhills Infant, Foxhills Junior, Bartley Infant, Oakfield Primary, Testwood and Hounsdown Secondary
In addition to mentoring in school we also provide some out-of-school mentoring for young people aged 11-16. Our Youth Worker will meet regularly to support, encourage and signpost where necessary.
Adults and families
Our Family Workers and Community Workers work one-to-one with a number of individuals and families who are struggling with certain issues including family breakdown, parenting concerns, mental health issues, debt, addiction and illness or disability. Families can be referred to us from Social Services, GPs, schools, local agencies and by themselves.
Our Family Workers and Community Workers provide a listening ear as well as giving information, advice and guidance. Where needed they will accompany them to appointments and meetings and signpost them to more specialised agencies when appropriate.
