Our three Family Workers currently work with over 40 families through various support networks.
Thursday morning Coffee Drop-in 9.30 – 11.30
Coffee morning is an opportunity for parents to meet together and chat, have coffee and a cake. It’s an informal support network, with our Family Workers Rachel and Debbie on hand to give advice, but with a lot of peer support happening. The emphasis is on having fun, taking time out, and learning new skills. A typical term’s programme would include things such as:
- cooking on a budget
- craft activity
- parenting support from a professional
- beauty treatments
- First Aid
- basic computing
- and lots of coffee and cake!
This session is open to any parent. A free crèche is available for young children.
“An excellent group…where I have met some of my good friends. There are friendly staff who are always there if you need someone to share your problems with or have a laugh with.”
We have been fortunate to receive some funding to enable us to take the families we work with out on trips during the holidays. We have visited Monkey World, Paulton’s Park, Intech Science centre as well as many others.
Here’s what we aim to achieve through our family work:
- Improved self-esteem and confidence
- Improved family relationships
- Improved confidence in parenting
- Improved knowledge in areas such as drugs & alcohol, healthy eating, budgeting etc.
- Social engagement in activities
All these outcomes for a family, benefit both the adults and the children in their care.
